Don’t let all your hard work in 2014 go to side just because it’s Spring Break!!! No excuses. Yes, of course, have a good time. Be a little more relaxed on your eating. Enjoy some foods, but make sure you continue to get your workout in.
Here are some tips for staying fit over Spring Break…
1. Find a local gym wherever you go. Many times you can purchase a 1 week pass. It’s fun to take some classes at new places.
2. Go down to the hotel fitness center. Jump on the treadmill, increase the incline and enjoy a nice brisk walk… or run
3. Take a nice walk or jog on the beach or around the area and take in the view. Add in a few speed walking or jogs.
4. Print off these workouts and get your sweat on. No equipment needed, just 100% effort. These are quick workouts that can be done in the hotel room or on the beach or in the fitness center. You will need a deck of cards for the third one.
Spring Break Workouts
Do you remember when you were a kid and jumping around was so much fun? I have a 4 year old daughter and I can’t even get her to walk across the parking lot, she just want to skip, hop and bounce all the way to the door. And I’ve caught myself many times saying, “Katie please just walk”. But why should she. She’s a kid and there are so many functional, developmental benefits to her jumping, hopping and skipping through life… besides, it’s way more fun!!! But why should we as adults, miss out on all the benefits and fun that jumping brings! We shouldn’t! But we’d look a little silly skipping around all day. And the pavement is a little hard on our aging joints, tendons and ligaments.
But there’s a way to Jump again! And even better, you can jump and get fit all at once. It’s not a new concept. In fact, my mom has been jumping for years. I’ve always been an athlete. You know… Lunges, sprints, squats, pull-ups, lifting, etc… So I would discount my mom jumping on her mini trampoline as a workout. Although, looking back, I’m very proud of her! To this day, she still loves to do it! And fitness is about finding what you enjoy! But the saying mom knows best has come around to haunt me … In a good way!
I am so excited to be able to offer a Rebounding (trampoline) class at Erin Schwein Fitness. But this class is definitely a little more advanced. By the end of the hour, we work the legs, the core, the arms and definitely the legs. But the benefits that take place is incredible!
Here’s an article on 31 benefits of rebounding!
And here’s a little sample of what we do in class! FYI: Classes fill up fast… Sign up early!
